Come join the fun of this fast paced Olympic sport!! Fencing is a martial art that develops quickness, discipline, fair play, and confidence.

Students will learn:

  • Proper usage of the equipment and safety.
  • Correct Footwork. How to advance, retreat, and lunge!
  • Basic bladework. How to correctly control their foil.
  • Basic tactics for fencing.

All equipment will be provided.

The last class will feature a practice tournament in which the students can test out their new swashbuckling skills!

Students are asked to wear comfortable athletic clothing and proper athletic shoes.
Fencing masks, jackets, gloves, and swords are provided for use during the camp.

Henri Gales placed 5th at the Dallas North American Cup.  This victory is her 3rd national medal and increases her ranking to #7 in the nation in the Vet 60 point standings.  Way to go Henri!

Nick Wofford came in 3rd at the Y14 Division Qualifier.  Nick defeated his teammate Andrew Linden in the bronze medal match.   Both CHFA fencers qualified for Y14 at Summer Nationals.

Shane Mason won the 2014 North Carolina Divisional Championships.   After a slow start to begin the day, Shane ended with two dominating matches to capture the divisional title.  This also qualifies him to fence Div 2 Epee at Summer Nationals, where his teammate Wes Barja won the national championship last year.
