Ricki Richards won the 2015 North Carolina Div 2 National Qualifying Tournament. Ricki dominated wire to wire to win the title. In addition, his teammate Andrew Linden came in 3rd. In the Y14 Women's Epee, Makayla Mcminn came in 3rd.
This is the fourth time in a row that a Charlotte Fencing Academy fencer has won the NC National Qualifier in epee.

Sandy Tapia pulled a major comeback and came in 8th at the 2014 Cherry Blossom Open Tournament at the University of Maryland. A bad pool result left her seeded as the #26 seed going into direct eliminations. She pulled upsets in her 2nd and 3rd round bouts in order to make it to the quarterfinals.
This finish earned her a C2014 rating and, more importantly, allows her to begin fencing at the Div 1 level. Div 1 tournaments are the qualifiers for national teams and the Olympics.
Sandy Tapia won the 2015 South Carolina Div 2 National Qualifying Tournament. This was the toughest challenge to date, with a previous division champion also in the mix. This is the fourth time in a row Sandy has won the SC National Qualifier in epee.
